THE HELPING PEOPLE
We are the people who make up the Teen Alert Program. The Teen Alert Program is committed to ending dating and domestic violence and other forms of abuse through leadership, prevention, legal services, individual and systemic advocacy and social change work. We believe that all youth should be given a voice and that everyone deserves to be respected and loved in their relationships.
Keli'i Beyer
Outreach Educator
Keli'i has been involved with the Teen Alert Program and the Domestic Violence Action Center for the last 3 years, after completing his BFA from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. Having studied art, political science, Hawaiian language, Ethnic and Women's Studies, Keli'i has been able to use his degree to work with Hawai'i's youth in various ways. Whether teaching art at the Honolulu Art Academy and the Art-to-Go program, or as an outreach educator to at-risk youth, he has had many great opportunities to meet young people from all around the state.
Keli'i is also very involved in the local music scene, playing saxophone in all-star ska band Black Square, singing in the University chorus, and hosting a KTUH radio show for the past 7 years. He enjoys being physically active and will often spend his free time surfing, skating, hiking or bike-riding. Keli'i has actively participated in Makahiki ceremonies for the past three years and has been a frequent visitor to the island of Kaho'olawe, where he has helped in the island restoration process.
Stri Longanecker
Teen Advocate / Case Manager and
Outreach Educator
Stri is into artistic expression, especially creative writing and dancing. She is obsessed with music, including underground hip-hop, electronica, funk, afro-beat, jazz, blues, rock 'n' roll, and more. She loves humans, animals, and nature. Having lived in seven states, she is honored to live in Hawai'i, the most magical place she's ever been.
Stri works to educate local youth about domestic violence and relationship abuse at various intermediate and high schools. She also leads writing workshops for at-risk teens in traditional and non-traditional school settings. Stri loves to work one-on-one with teenagers and young adults who are survivors of dating violence, helping them to develop safety plans, providing them with education on dating violence, and connecting them to community resources.
